Events

As progressive traditionalists, we like to invite guest instructors who share our vision of how great martial arts training is to come and teach us.  These seminars, and nearly all of the events that our Chief Instructor John Burke teaches, are usually open to all martial artists, regardless of experience or affiliation.  Here are a few of the events that we have lined up:

So far this year we have had visits from Anthony Blades renshi (6th Dan), Terry Wingrove sensei (8th Dan), Harry Cook (7th Dan),and Julian Mead sensei (7th Dan).  John Burke sensei (4th Dan) has also taught seminars on kata application and performance.  We have travelled to seminars with Patrick McCarthy sensei and Kanazawa kancho.

At our Black Belt Panel Grading in March we were proud to recognise Lee Warren, Liam Trott, Joe Trott, and Blaise Radley, all at 2nd Dan; and Joe Boyd, Annabel Callan, Jasper James, Dave Pickhaver, and Jared Wray as new 1st Dan Black Belts.  Now, in September, we have also recognised Lucie Clark and Steph Ellis at Nidan (2nd degree) and Sam Adams, Tim Boyd. Dan Callan, Cat Maslin, Ruby Simmons, and Dale Tarr as new shodans (1st degree black belts)

Saturday 6th December.  John Burke sensei teaching Power Generation in Plymouth.

Sunday 7th December.  John Burke sensei teaching Heian Kata Bunkai in London.

Sunday 14th December.  EKK kyu grading, Newton Abbot.

Sunday 21st December.  The Special Lesson (Christmas Party), Newton Abbot.

2009

Sunday 31st January.  Hangetsu/Seisan with IOGKF Goju Ryu instructor Neville Kinghorne 6th dan and John Burke sensei.  Newton Abbot

Sunday 1st February.  EKK Kyu grading

Sunday 15th February.  Kick-a-Thon

Sunday 1st March.  Terry Wingrove sensei teaching Karate Jutsu, Newton Abbot

Sunday 15th March.  EKK Kyu Grading.

End of March - John Burke sensei teaching at the Lynmouth, North Devon course organised by Jo Biggs sensei.

Sunday 5th April.  BAMA  Dan Grading, Newton Abbot.

Friday 17th/Saturday 18th April.  John Burke sensei teaching at the UBA Judo Course, Exmouth.

August.  Special BAMA Summer Course.
